Frequently Asked Questions

Residency

Do you have to be a Christian to stay at the Mission?

You do not need to be a Christian to be a resident of the Mission. As long as a person has a desire to change their life and is able and willing to commit to following the program, they’ll probably be a good fit.

How long can a person stay at the Mission?

A resident can stay indefinitely, as long as they are able to demonstrate that they are making progress toward independence.

What if someone wants to be a resident, but they don’t have an ID?

Come as you are! The Mission works with residents to help them get an ID or birth certificate.

I don’t live in Grants Pass; can you still help me?

The Grants Pass Gospel Rescue Mission is committed to serving those who want to build a flourishing life in the city of Grants Pass Oregon.  If you need help but don’t live in Grants Pass, consider looking for a Gospel Rescue Mission near you.

Do I have to quit smoking to become a resident?

You will have to commit to becoming nicotine free, but we will help.  We offer counsel along with nicotine patches and allow other medically prescribed methods to be implemented.  The majority of those who attempt to quit during their stay find success.

Can I bring my service animal?

For liability reasons we cannot accept service animals.

Donations

What types of donations do you need?

We can always use financial support as well as a variety of food items.  We also go through a variety of household items such as towels, washcloths, bedding, and blankets (twin size), and non-hotel/motel toiletries.  All other clothing and household items can be donated at our Second Chance Thrift and Booth Street Thrift stores where they can be offered freely to program participants or sold for great prices with all proceeds going to help offset the cost of our program operations.

How do I donate household items?

The Mission benefits in many ways from the donations of quality, gently used clothing and household items.  Donations of all clothing and household items are received at either of our thrift stores where they are processed and organized for redistribution for sale or to be offered freely to those in our program that are working to leave homelessness.  All funds raised by our thrift stores go directly to help support the residents of the Gospel Rescue Mission.  We cannot promise that clothing donations will go directly to Mission residents, but all residents have regular and reasonable opportunity to access clothing at our thrift stores free of charge.

How do I donate food?

All food donations are received at the kitchen door of our Men’s facility at 540 SW Foundry.  Food must be in unopened packaging and within manufacturers recommended sell by date.  We cannot accept dented or corroded canned goods.  For all other questions call 541 476-0082 and ask to speak to our food service manager.

When I donate online, is my information secure?

Your payment and personal information is always safe. We use a donation platform called Planning Center Giving to process all online donations. The platform uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which is the industry standard and among the best software available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read over the internet.

Grants Pass Gospel Rescue Mission will not share or sell a donor’s personal information with anyone else whether collected online or offline. The Grants Pass Gospel Rescue Mission will not send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations.

Do you accept Paypal for online giving?

The best and easiest way to give online is through our Secure Payment Portal.

However, if you would like to donate online using Paypal, see the page Paypal Giving.
