A Sanctuary for Women and Children in Grants Pass

Fikso Family Center: A Place of Healing and Hope in Grants Pass

The Fikso Family Center, part of the Gospel Rescue Mission in Grants Pass, offers a safe, supportive environment for women and children facing homelessness. More than just a shelter, it’s a place where families can begin to rebuild their lives through compassionate care and a clear path forward. As part of the Mission’s broader efforts, Fikso plays a crucial role in restoring dignity and independence to some of the most vulnerable members of the community.

At the core of the center’s services is the Pathway to Independence Program, a structured, goal-oriented plan that helps women take meaningful steps toward self-sufficiency. Each resident works closely with the Women’s Coordinator, receiving personalized support and monthly progress reviews. The program is flexible, allowing for extended stays when additional time is needed to meet goals and ensure lasting stability.

The facility includes four rooms for single women and 12 rooms for mothers with up to four children, with shared bathrooms between every two rooms. This setup provides privacy while fostering a sense of community. If a mother has more than four children, the Mission will work to accommodate her depending on space availability. Every detail of the shelter is designed with both practicality and dignity in mind.

Children under 18 are welcomed as long as they are with their mother or legal guardian and proper custody documentation is provided. Though the shelter is not equipped to house married couples, the Gospel Rescue Mission supports both men and women through separate facilities, with men staying at the nearby Men’s Shelter. This structure ensures safety and order while still offering comprehensive family support.

To maintain a secure and peaceful environment, male visitors are not permitted within the Women’s Shelter. Fathers and other male family members must coordinate visits through the Men’s Shelter and meet off-site, with prior approval from staff. These policies prioritize the safety and comfort of every woman and child at the center.

Above all, the Fikso Family Center is a place of transformation. Through practical assistance, faith-based encouragement, and unwavering support, women and children are empowered to rise above hardship and step into a future filled with purpose. It’s a quiet force for good in Grants Pass—a place where lives are truly changed.
