I wanted to donate my husband’s nice jean, shirts, ect to help until I found out you sell the stuff you get for free, for cash instead of giving them to who needs. My money stops here as well as any future donations.

      Lalonda,

Thanks for stopping by the Grants Pass Gospel Rescue Mission homepage and leaving us a comment. In response, I wanted to let you know how our donation program works and some things about it that you might not be aware of.

When you donate items to the Mission through either of our thrift stores, all proceeds from all thrift store purchases go to support the programs of the Mission. These funds provide our residents with meals, clothing, shelter, and even they pay for the electricity for our facilities! The Mission is entirely privately funded through donations. We don’t take a penny of tax dollars from the government.

Your donation makes it possible for our residents to achieve independence. 1 in 3 people who become residents of the Mission, leave with a place to call home and a source of income.

What about our residents and people in our community that need clothing and household items? We provide vouchers (like a gift certificate) to our residents to shop at our thrift stores at no cost. We also provide these vouchers to other community partners (Options for Southern Oregon, for example) so that even non-residents can get what they need through our thrift stores.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or comments!

      -Eric
